BayCalc

We published our first Android Device Application on 8th June 2010. BayCalc is a calculator for surveyors that calculates the projection and external width of a bay (or bow) window with equal segments. It will also work out the same for Victorian conservatories.

It is freely available from the Android Marketplace.

Screenshots

The first screenshot shows a sample calculation. In this case an overall external bay width of 2385mm is required. With an internal angle of 150 degrees and frame thickness of 70mm, the internal projection is 660mm and the window elements need to be made 683mm wide.

The calculator works with 3, 4, 5 and 6 segment bays.

For internal calculations on conservatories set the thickness to 0. Symmetrical Victorian conservatories typically have 3 segments at 135 Deg. or 5 segments at 150 Deg. In these cases the internal width can be converted to an external width by simply adding twice the profile thickness.

The second screenshot shows a sample 5 segment Victorian conservatory example. Here the target internal width is 3250mm which gives a facet size of 871mm,
